FAQ: FAQ

WHAT DO YOU CHARGE FOR PROCESSING?

Our price list for the 2022 season (June-November) can be found on our pricing page.

CAN YOU CUT OUR BIRDS?

Absolutely! Please let us know when you call to book your appointment.  We need to know ahead of time to schedule our pick-ups efficiently.

We offer the option of cutting broilers in half ($2.00) or quarters ($2.50) per bird.  Cut broilers are packaged in halves.

We also offer the option of cutting turkeys in half ($3.00) or quarters ($3.50) per turkey.  Cut turkeys are packaged in halves. We apologize, but this option is not available the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I PICK UP MY BIRDS?

First of all, your birds were processed with the same care and expertise that we treat the poultry we feed our own family.

Your birds will be packaged in freezer bags according to your choice: hand packaged at no additional charge or vacuum packed for an additional $1.00 per bag.

Your birds will be ready for you at your pick up time.  They will be neatly stacked on trolleys that can be wheeled to your vehicle for easy loading.

HOW DO I DELIVER MY BIRDS?

This question has lots of answers.  The best answer is the one that feels most comfortable to you and your flock.  However, we have found the following advice to be most helpful to our patrons.

  1. Your birds need air, lots of it.  Be sure they are not packed in too tightly and are transported in cages that breath.

  2. Give them clean shavings.  Fresh clean bedding helps to calm them while being transported.

  3. Load the birds just prior to leaving your home to deliver them to the Tabor Homestead.

  4. Bring gloves.  Unfortunately, we do not have a wash up area for our patrons.

We've seen great sensitivity and creativity out of our patrons.  Maybe we'll start a photo collage of all the great ideas people use to transport their birds!
